This course focuses on being playful and using play when caring for young people in a residential home. It considers early life trauma and the impact this can have on attachment relationships, brain and body and how play can be a vital part of building secure and nurturing relationships. It will introduce the participants to the play as part of their role when caring for young people and teenagers, considering how play can be applied to everyday challenges and resistance, and giving them practical ideas and practice.

How is the course delivered?

This in-depth course is delivered by a qualified therapist with extensive experience in working with young people who have experienced trauma and attachment difficulties.

It is delivered in person at the Gateway Psychology Premises.

However, if you are thinking of a group booking of 5 or more places, this could be delivered at a venue of your choice. (additional costs may apply), please contact our training team for more details.

Terms and conditions

Spaces are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. The application form reserves a place on our list, and the payment confirms the place. We cannot confirm a place without payment, which must be received by the funding deadline. If we receive payment after the deadline, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to attend the course.

Please note that spaces are charged per person and not per household. Unregistered participants will be asked to leave the course. If we do not receive all payments by the deadline, we may cancel the course.

We may also cancel the course if we do not receive enough applications by the deadline. We require a minimum number of participants for the course to go ahead.

If you choose not to attend after payment is made and the funding deadline has passed, this is classed as a late-notice cancellation and we will not be able to offer a refund.
