LEAPlets: The BUSS® in Early Years groupwork programme
LEAPlets is an 11-week manualised groupwork programme designed to nurture and support the development of attachment relationships and build children’s foundation sensorimotor systems. It’s a very ‘hands on’ group, working with parents to understand their child’s foundation sensorimotor systems and how these have been impacted by developmental trauma.
About LEAPlets
LEAPlets is an 11-week programme for parents/carers and their children. It is designed to nurture and support the development of attachment relationships and build children’s foundation sensorimotor systems. While it is a group intervention, there is differentiation within the group to ensure that the individual needs of children and families are catered for.
With a qualified BUSS group leader and trained support practitioners, the group offers practical support and strategies to parents/carers and their children to build their foundation sensorimotor systems.
The group is for children aged between 2 and 6 years of age and their parents or carers.

How the sessions work:
- The first session is for parents/carers without their children
- There are 10 sessions for parents/carers and children together
- We also provide a final individual session for each parent/ carer , which is an opportunity to reflect on the gains made in the group context and to consider the way forward for their child
- A minimum of 5 and maximum of 8 children can be accommodated in the group, so applications and funding should be finalised as soon as possible to ensure a place and to ensure that the group will go ahead.
Outcome measurement tools
Goal Based Outcome measures will be undertaken pre and post intervention. Three standard intervention goals will be rated.
The outcomes will be shared with parents and referrers.
